A roof over your head
After the wet weather this week people's thoughts must surely be focused on a roof over their head and a sound surface underfoot. Ravensdale Lodge can provide both and has a schedule to suit everyone's taste this coming autumn. Show jumping, dressage and arena eventing are all covered in the line up and whether you earn a living from the sport or just enjoy it in your spare time all will appreciate the world -class facilities at Ravensdale Lodge. A constant throughout the year are the show jumping leagues held at the centre and with the Wednesday grass leagues coming to an end the action moves inside on Friday 17th September to Friday 3rd December with the eagerly awaited twelve - week horse and pony training league. Registered show jumping moves indoors for nine - weeks on Thursday 30th September to Thursday 25th November and both these leagues will be sandwiched by the centres end of season mini Grand Prix show to be held on Sunday 26th September. With a prize fund of over €1500 this show is sure to attract much attention.
Dressage re commences after a long summer break and enthusiasts will be keen to move indoor's again to the superb waxed fibre sand surfaces provided by both indoor arenas at Ravensdale Lodge. Everyone who participated in the two spring leagues at the centre were delighted with how their horses performed on the surfaces and interest should be high in the six - week league, which commences on Tuesday 28th September. This league is to run every second Tuesday to 7th December and Janet Murray is also set to give a dressage clinic at the centre on Tuesday 5th October.
The finishing touches are also being put to a series of arena eventing dates at the centre, once again to try and utilise the fantastic indoor facilities at Ravensdale Lodge. With the evenings closing in and the ground conditions likely to deteriorate over the coming weeks enthusiasts will be happy to hear that their season will be extended beyond the popular jump cross league held at the centre. "We have had a fantastic outdoor season with a lot going on and for once the summer was relatively good" commented Niall Connolly of Ravensdale Lodge "Things have come to an abrupt end with all the rain this week and we will be happy to be moving indoor's towards the middle of the month. It is only a week to our very popular twelve - week indoor league on Friday nights and we are catering for every need over the coming weeks and months with registered and un registered show jumping, dressage and we are excited about our plans for some arena eventing dates, with the popularity of our jump cross leagues this new initiative should prove popular".
