IRISH WORKING HUNTER ASSOCIATION
The Irish Working Hunter Association has launched a new website and is now accepting further membership applications for 2011.
The new association aims to provide nationwide competitions, leagues, training events and championship shows for working hunter enthusiasts. New entry level competitions will encourage grassroots and novice riders to try a new discipline.
With a major championship show already planned for July, the association is also offering three opportunities for southern riders to qualify for the Northern Ireland Festival Working Hunter Championship on March 27th at Upper Mace E.C. Co Mayo (Horses), April 3rd at Upper Mace E.C. Co Mayo (Ponies) and April 10th at Gurteen College, Co. Tipperary.
The association was formed when a group of like-minded people got together who felt there was a lack of working hunter competitions and limited training options for people new to the discipline.
A spokesperson for the organisation said "A gap existed that should be filled with more working hunter horse competitions along with more accessibility to horses and riders across the scales of training, particularly young riders making the transition from ponies to horses".
Another showcase for the Irish horse is to be welcomed and with classes for registered Irish Draught horses and Cobs as well as the Hunters there will be something for everyone.
The website can be found at www.iwhassoc.com and all enquiries to info@iwhassoc.com or telephone Denise Colebrooke 087 168 4067
