Ravensdale Lodge Dressage goes from strength to strength
The dressage leagues which have been held at Ravensdale Lodge have gone from strength to strength since they first started some eighteen months ago in spring 2010. After three successful indoor leagues the centre extended the run to include a summer league on their superb outdoor grass arenas and is now half way through this particular league with the number and calibre of entries improving with every week. Last Tuesday's league date saw international dressage and event riders Jayne Doherty and Sasha Stewart make an appearance with a lorry load of horses for the show. The sisters have been to Ravensdale Lodge on different occasions and Jayne who is hoping to qualify for the European championships this year and the London Olympics in twelve months time picked the grass arenas at Ravensdale to prepare for her final trial for the European Championships which is scheduled for next week. "I think Ravensdale Lodge is one of the best facilities in Ireland and the grass arenas are certainly the best in the country for what we do" stated Jayne "I have my last trial for selection for this years European Championships next week and I have earmarked Ravensdale for my final preparation between competing at the Olympic test event in Greenwich village a couple of weeks ago" she went on to say. Her sister Sasha Stewart has represented Ireland in eventing at the Athens Olympics as well as European and World Championships; she is now concentrating solely on dressage as well as producing and selling dressage horses. She is currently competing on one of Carl Hester's horses which she is hoping to progress and find a new home for.
"We have been really delighted with how the dressage competitions have progressed here at the centre" commented Niall Connolly of Ravensdale Lodge. "Our indoor leagues have grown in reputation from day one and it is really lovely to see how well this summer league is going, it really has exceeded my expectations. I think it is all down to the wonderful surfaces that we have, both indoor and outdoor, our facilities are second to none and we are relatively close to everyone. The competitors all seem to appreciate the facilities that we have here at Ravensdale Lodge and the grass arenas are like a carpet to ride on. It is a real stamp of approval when international riders such as Jayne Doherty and Sasha Stewart come to compete here and it is lovely for everyone to see such a high calibre of competitor and standard of riding" he went on to say.
The summer dressage league continues at Ravensdale Lodge on Tuesday 2nd, 16th & 30th August with a start time of 6pm. Entries can be made directly to the centre by email or phone.
"Best seats in the house"
Christmas will come early to some lucky competitors at Ravensdale Lodge over the coming weeks. The centre has grandstand tickets to draw for the Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show on Friday 5th August which is of course Nations Cup or Aga Khan Day, the highlight of the week for many. The tickets have been kindly sponsored by the centres watch partner, LONGINES who also sponsor the five star International Grand Prix at the Show on Sunday 7th August. Three shows have been earmarked for tickets and a draw will take place next Friday, 29th July at the final horse and pony training show on grass, this will be followed on Sunday 31st July at the next scheduled cross - jump league date and finally the following Tuesday, 2nd August at the centres dressage league. The tickets will be drawn to give everyone a chance of winning and anyone who competes at the three shows will be in with a chance to win a ticket. "We are really delighted to have these tickets to give to some of our clients and I want to thank LONGINES once again for their support, they have been wonderful to us over the year and we are very lucky to have such a great sponsor here at the centre. The grandstand on Friday watching the Aga Khan is where everyone wants to be and it is the highlight of the week and indeed the year for many so they are very valuable prizes that are on offer. We decided that everyone who competes here at Ravensdale Lodge should be given the chance to win a ticket so we will split them between our show jumping, cross jump and dressage clients and all that has to be done to have a chance of winning one of these tickets is to compete at any of the three shows listed…reward in itself" stated Niall Connolly of Ravensdale Lodge.
To find out more about the draws log on to the centers website or contact the centre directly on +353 (0) 42 9371034.
