TREC Open Championships

TREC Open Championships

TREC Ireland is delighted to announce this year's Open Championships will take place in Slieve Aughty Centre, Loughrea, Co, Galway, on the 24th and 25th of September. The Championships will feature all four levels of competition, and for the first time ever, a leg of the FITE European Cup league. FITE is the governing body and the European Cup takes place all over Europe and is for Level 4 competitors only. The event will also include qualifying classes for next year's British Championships, so there truly will be a class to suit all levels. There will be riders coming from the UK, which will make for an exciting Championship. Discover Ireland is also supporting the event, by advertising it on their website.

The event will feature the Orienteering Phase on Saturday 24th of September (which is followed by the social evening), with Sunday's events being kicked off by the Control of Paces, after which riders will tackle the Obstacle course. For full details on the event, please contact Chairman Adrian Flynn, at adrianjf@eircom.net, or visit our website, www.trecireland.com, where you may find the full Schedule of events and entry form in the Downloads section.

Classes also included are Under 16 rider, Veteran, Native Breed and the Team competition.

This competition will also feature, for the very first time, the Kaspyr Kup, The Affiliated Group Team Perpetual Trophy, which will include four riders (from any level), of which the three best scores will count towards the overall score. One member must be a fully paid up TREC Ireland member. There will be bonus points awarded to riders competing at the higher levels. Entries must go through group secretaries.

Also this competition will be included in the Rider of The Year Competition, open to all TREC Ireland members, and is currently hotly contested, with Sean Fitzgibbon from Limerick in the lead. Only full three phase competitions count towards this trophy! For more details please contact Bastian at bastian@gmail.com.

Finally, we are delighted to announce that a number of sponsors have come on board for the event this year! We would like to thank I-Quip our main sponsor and Orchard Equestrian. Darragh Equestrian is also sponsoring a rug to the winner of the European Cup. I-Quip are best known for their fantastic riding gilet, designed with endurance and TREC riders in mind, and they now have a great range of handmade 'Second Skin' gloves on the market, that are available in 50 different colours!
