FEI ALLTECH 2010 WORLD EQUESTRIAN GAMES KENTUCKY REVIEW PROGRAMMES:

Dressage Grand Prix and Special - 104 mins, RRP: £21.99

The Netherlands came to these Games as overwhelming favourites for the team title with their effort being spearheaded by the amazing Moorlands Totilas. Despite losing top rider Adelinde Cornelissen after her horse Jerich Parzival had blood in the mouth and was disqualified, they were far too strong for the rest with Great Britain winning their first ever World Team Medal taking silver, after a brilliant test by Laura Bechtolsheimer, thus pushing the Germans into third. In the Grand Prix Special Moorlands Totilas was again too strong for the opposition but Laura Bechtolsheimer showed maturity beyond her years to win her second silver on Mistral Hojris, with the home crowd cheering Steffen Peters and Ravel into bronze position.

Dressage Kur - 100 mins, RRP: £21.99

Fifteen combinations went through to the final event in the dressage competition - the Kur -which took place under floodlights in the Rolex stadium. First to go of the final five were Laura Bechtolsheimer and Mistral Hojris who scored an excellent 85.35%. The USA favourite Steffan Peters and Ravel then put in a very pleasing performance but not quite good enough to overtake the British rider with a score of 84.9% The final horse into the arena was the Dutch sensation Moorlands Totilas who didn't let anyone down, producing a fabulous test for rider Edward Gal and securing the gold medal with a score of 91.80%.

Jumping - 100 mins, RRP: £21.99

In a Nations Cup style team competition, any three of six Nations could realistically win medals with Germany narrowly on top. But in the second round the Germans jumped three immaculate clears to win the title with a great scrap for the minor honours between France, Belgium and Brazil. INDIVIDUAL - There was a dramatic shoot out in the four rider final but only Belgium's Philippe Le Jeune could jump clear on all four horses to win at the age of 50, with his horse, Hickstead, winning the best horse prize, also with a clean sheet.

This DVD is split equally between the team and individual competition

Eventing - 100 mins, RRP: £21.99

Eighty competitors representing twenty-one nations set out on the four days of competition to decide team and individual honours. Team favourites were undoubtedly the reigning European champions, Great Britain, and, despite trailing Germany after the dressage phase, they would sweep to victory with their three top riders; William Fox-Pitt, Mary King and Nicola Wilson all finishing on their dressage scores. Fox-Pitt also claimed the individual silver medal on Cool Mountain. A class above the rest was the individual gold medallist, Michael Jung, of Germany, riding his brilliant ten-year-old La Biosthetique-Sam FBW.

Carriage Driving - 100 mins, RRP: £21.99

British based driver Boyd Exell won Australia's only gold at these Games, leading from start to finish in the four-in-hand driving competition, having set a world record in the dressage phase to set him on the path to gold. Chasing hard all the way was the Dutch ace, Ijsbrand Chardon, who put real pressure on the Australian who only had a second to spare at the end of the cones. Chardon would, however, win gold in the team competition with The Netherlands having three drivers in the top six out of a total of 25 four-in-hand teams that competed. Comprehensive coverage of the marathon is sandwiched between highlights of the dressage and cones.

Vaulting - 52 mins, RRP: £12.99

Britain's 21 year old dental student, Joanne Eccles, lived up to all expectations when she added the World title to her European title she won last year to give Britain it's first ever Vaulting medal in the female individual Vaulting, her father John being the lunger. The host nation won the Team title after an excellent performance in the final freestyle, which moved them up from 3rd, ahead of Germany and Austria. In the men's competition the pupil, Switzerland's 26 year old Patric Looser, overcame his mentor and coach Kai Vorberg in the Alltech Arena to give his country their only medal of the games. All the best performances are shown in full.

Reining - 52 mins, RRP: £12.99

The powerhouse team from the USA took team gold yet again to maintain their 100% record since Reining became part of the World Equestrian Games. Star of their team was Shawn Flarida with the twelve-year-old Palamino stallion RC Fancy Step as they scored the highest individual mark in the team event of 227. However in the individual competition disaster would strike the American ace as a leather broke during his run which resulted in Flarida touching the saddle to regain balance thus incurring a 5 point penalty; this would let in his teammate Tom McCutcheon on his six-year-old Quarter Horse stallion Gunners Special Nite whose excellent score of 228 may well have been too good for Flarida even if he had had a clean run. McCutcheon would finish an impressive five points clear of his nearest rival teammate Craig Schmersal with former World Champion Duane Latimer grabbing the bronze for Canada.

Endurance - 52 mins, RRP: £12.99

One hundred riders set out on the 160 km ride across the Kentucky countryside at dawn on the morning after the opening ceremony and riders from the United Arab Emirates team would dominate the team competition with three of them finishing in the first 8 home. In the individual competition HE Sheikh Mohammed, husband of FEI President Princess Haya, decided it was in the best interests of his UAE team that he rode as an individual and he would secure the silver medal after dropping to 14th at the second vetgate. However nobody could live with the reigning World and European champions Maria Mercedes Alvarez Ponton and her hugely durable 15 yr old French bred gelding Nobby. They lead from the third vetgate and steadily increased their lead through the rest of the ride to finish over a minute in front of HE Sheikh Mohammed riding the 7 yr old Ciel Oriental. This victory by the Spanish rider was achieved just 7 weeks after she gave birth to a daughter.
