Irish finalists need you!

The inaugural Equestrian Social Media Awards have entered the voting round. The good news is that a number of Irish people, events and riding schools have made it through to the final stages!

The Equestrian Social Media Awards started before Christmas. County Down man, Liam Killen from Abbeyview Equine, and Wiltshire based, Rhea Freeman from Rhea Freeman PR launched the concept and invited the equestrian community who use social media site to nominate who they thought really flew the flag for the industry. Nominations were cast over 10 days via Facebook and Twitter on the run up to Christmas Eve. Some 4000 nominations were counted and, from this list, the top 10 in each category made it through to the voting stage.

"Being Irish myself, I was thrilled that many companies, events and people, on both sides of the border, were promoting the Equestrian Social Media Awards, and I was even more pleased when, after the final count up, it was apparent that quite a number had got through," enthuses Liam.

Irish finalists include AP McCoy, Cain O'Connor, Barry Geraghty, Horseware Ireland, Dublin Horse Show, Donegal Equestrian Centre and HorsePlay's own Jenny Doran, from Halcyon Day PR (category 3 if you'd like to vote for her!).

To vote, all you need to do it visit www.abbeyviewequine.com/awards and vote - it's as simple as that! Nominations close on the 18th February 2011 and 1pm GMT.

"Many companies and individuals are asking for votes using their own social media," says Liam. "If you want your favourite brand, company or event to be in with a chance of winning, you've got to vote- all the votes will be counted and the person or company with the most will win, so get voting!"
