"It pays to jump at Ravensdale Lodge".
There was good news a plenty for Ravensdale Lodge in the main arena at the Failte Ireland Dublin Horse Show last Sunday (August 8th). After hosting a record entry Amateur qualifier for the RDS on May 15th, connections of the centre were delighted as four of the top six finishers in Dublin qualified at Ravensdale and another combination who again finished in the top six being a regular competitor at the centre.
Sinead Thompson riding her own Kilmainham Lady did the Ravensdale / Dublin double, as the combination who came out best of a massive 230 entries at Ravensdale Lodge went on to record a wonderful win in Dublin. Other qualified combinations from Ravensdale Lodge who went on to a top six finish were Sinead's sister, Fiona Roche riding her own Peopatra who qualified fifth in Ravensdale but went one better in Dublin by finishing fourth. To further complicate things Sinead's husband, Andrew Thompson who had qualified fourth in Ravensdale had to settle for fifth in Dublin after being leapfrogged by his sister - in - law. Andrew of course was riding his own Paeona Du Mesnil. The fourth qualifier from Ravensdale to finish in the top six was Martin Wilson who finished joint sixth in the Dublin class. Everyone present was delighted and relieved to see both Martin and his superb equine partner Database leave the arena "shaken and stirred" but both on their feet to battle another day after taking a heavy fall at the double. To complete five in the top six for Ravensdale, Sheikh Samir Mirdad riding his own recent purchase Uraeus finished second in the class. Sheikh Samir, a regular competitor at Ravensdale Lodge did not qualify from the venue but did compete in the qualifying show.
"We are really delighted for all concerned and for the centre, it was a fantastic result" commented Niall Connolly of Ravensdale Lodge. "We had a record entry for our qualifier and a mammoth class which ran for ten hours and ten minutes with close to 300 combinations jumping, it is wonderful to see so many of the qualified combinations from Ravensdale doing so well here in Dublin; it is particularly nice to see the winning combination coming from Ravensdale and we would like to congratulate everyone concerned but especially Sinead on her fine win. I would also like to thank the RDS for allowing us to play a part in such a wonderful show and we very much hope to host a qualifier next year"
